Space-Center BABYLON 5

Captain Jeffrey Sinclair (Michael O'Hare)
He was the commander of Babylon 5 during the first season.
I think that O'Hare/Sinclair really was the ideal figure for that job. His tendency towards
unneccessary personal risks, his emotional engagement and his special kind of humor
made him a very pleasant commander. I liked him at once and was very sad about
his dismissal. His destiny as a religious figure to the Minbari may be a nice concession,
but to me he stays the true Commander of Babylon 5.
Captain John Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner)
He's the new commander of Babylon 5.
I needed a long time to get used to him. He's the kind of an ideal son-in-law, eversmiling
and well-perfumed. But Boxleitner shurely does his best.
Sheridan, the friend in need, is a very straight character.
His wife Anna was a member of the expedition to Z'ha'dum that never returned.
Commander Susan Ivanova (Claudia Christian)
She is the typical career officer, of russian-jewish origin, but without relatives. She has a
dry sense of humor and a strong dislike for the psi-corps. As the second commander of
Babylon 5, she often has to appear distantly. I just wondered, why she commentlessly
accepted the recall of Sinclair. But she is a loyal character, who woul never betray
somebody in order to reach any personal aims.
Security Chief Michael Garibaldi (Jerry Doyle)
Security chief Garibaldi, resolute, loyal and persistant, with a sad, troubled past, was
picked by his old friend Sinclair for the job on Babylon 5. Friendship and loyalty are very
important to him, he even bends the rules to help a friend in need.
On the one hand Garibaldi is always ready to make a joke, but on the other hand he's an
introspective character, self-doubting when alone.
Dr. Stephen Franklin (Richard Biggs)
Franklin is in charge of Babylon's medlab. I think, he's also a very persistant character,
especially when it is necessary to save a life. He is a specialist in xenobiology, his strong
sense of morality often collides with his duties as the chief medical provider.
Hitchhiking through space for several years, he gained a wide knowledge about different
forms of life.
Talia Winters (Andrea Thompson)
Look at that picture! Words are unnecessary.
Raised and trained by the psi-corps, she's the telepath on Babylon 5. She offeres her
telepathic abilities to businessmen or assists Sinclair in negotiations.
She was one of my favourites, but, as usual, my favourites have to disappear. So Straczynski
finally assigned the role of a traitor to her (season 2). It`s unfortunate that she left the show.
Ambassador G'Kar (Andreas Katsulas)
The Ambassador of the Narn Regime, a reptilian looking race, is an eloquent, dedicated
character. In the beginning he was a rough and sometimes arrogant fellow, only interested
in advantages for his own people. But he learned things the hard way. After the Centauri
brutally occupied Narn, G'Kar lost of his former pride. Now he's forced to fight with subgroups
using all his astuteness, because he would like nothing better than to see the Centauri wiped
from the face of the universe.
Ambassador Delenn (Mira Furlan)
She is the representative of the Minbari Federation, a highly spiritual race, ruled by a body
known as the Grey Council. Delenn, who believes in destiny and fate, is fascinated by
humans, trying to learn more about them. Especially interested in Sheridan, we already
know that they will have a child in the future. She's prepared to give her life in the great war
against the shadows.
Ambassador Kosh Naranck (var. people)
The Ambassador of the Vorlons, who permanently wears an encounter suit, is one of the
most mysterious creatures on Babylon 5.
Vorlons are one of the oldest races in the universe, they already visited many other worlds
(incl. the earth) in the past, but they never revealed themselves to others. Kosh, although rarely
seen in council meetings, seems to be better informed about everything than any other being.
He communicates through a sequence of musical tones, translated by a device on his suit.
His words are few and sound cryptic, but often comprise a strange truth.
